Real Life Road Trip!

I just got back from a weekend trip with some girlfriends. It started 10 years ago. We call ourselves "princesses" because the first year we wore tiaras. We've even worn pajamas a couple of times. It's grown in number and even includes a few "princes" now.

I'll post more later because it's back to work tomorrow.  Here's something I found at redhatters.org.

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't call when they say they will.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

BUT..........
Girlfriends are there, no matter how much time and how
many miles are between you.
A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have
to walk it by yourself, your girlfriends will be on the valley's rim,
cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on
your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you.
Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, daughter-in-laws, sisters, sisters-in-law,
mother, mother-in-law, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without them, and neither would I.

When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.

Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

Wasn't this just a fantastic weekend? And I love the narrative. No truer words have ever been spoken. How many times did we prove it to one another this weekend? "Hey, let's go to Venice! Vicky, will you drive?" "Of course I'll drive." "Let's go to The Getty Center! Vicky, will you drive?" "Of course I'll drive!" LOL. "Here, Colin, take my seat so you can take pictures." And in return, I got fun dances. "Everyone move over so "whoever" can see, please!" Then later a warm hug shared. When you spend your time thinking about everyone else, all your little worries just fade away!

Thank you, girlfriends!
