Baseball and America were woven together in April of 1976 in a most symbolic way as Los Angels Dodgers outfielder Rick Monday "rescued" the American flag from a father and son attempting to set it on fire in protest on the field.
Please have a safe and happy Fourth. I will enjoy celebrating our country which, even with all its flaws, I believe is still the greatest country in the world. Thank you to the men and women in uniform who serve it so selflessly.
