100 Seagulls: #1 - Jonathan Livingston, I Presume?

mine mine mineI have some blogging buddies who are doing a 100 Strangers photography project. Mind you, it's not that I'm anti-social or anything (okay maybe I am a little anti-social) but I simply prefer to take pictures of THINGS.

So. Here is my project called 100 Seagulls. I figure what can be STRANGER than this? It may take me a lifetime to complete being as I live in the desert and all, but it should be fun anyway.

:-)

I hope you will enjoy it, too, and if you have some seagull pictures you would like to share then drop me a line because this is important to me, and I'd really like to have this finished before I kick the bucket. I'm not opposed to doing a little cheating.

The seagull above seems to have a private (well, maybe a not so private) pad atop one of my favorite places in the world: the pier at the end of Washington Street in Venice, CA.

I love gulls
there is a marina near me and I visit them all the time

beautiful photo!!

I don't think I could take photos of strangers - I have this thing about getting permission yet I often feel silly asking and it gets so complicated

hee hee...Gulls are so graceful in flight, but MERCY what a mess those birds make! «Louis» used to do volunteer work on the restored WWII submarine Pampanito at Pier 45 in San Francisco. We had to scrub the upper deck of the sub every day because that seagull poop was so toxic it would eat right through the marine-grade paint on the deck! Now that's some powerful poop!

Beautiful seagull photo!

They all sort of look alike to me. Especially when they attack for a frickin' Skittles that you accidentally carried to the beach with you...

We'll get some new pictures soon!

Great image, the seagull looks so contemplative. Sometimes I wish I had a spy camera so I could take candid pictures of strangers. :)

You're just too chicken (uh, seagull I mean) to ask strangers! And what is this seagull's occupation, mind you? And where did he go to school? And how many kids does he have ~ does he even know? Okay, you're on for the challenge!
