Flash 55–Childhood Sweethearts

Flash 55 - Oct 29, 2010

(I had originally planned to post this on another day but decided to use something different instead. I thought I’d see how close I was to a Flash 55, and when I counted the words it was right on so I'm going for it. See other Flash 55 stories here.)

She Works Hard For The Money

It had been a long night with more lap dances than she could count on four paws, and  after 3 years she was still waiting for her gravy train to come in.

From the looks of things she had one big tipper, and that was a rare treat.

A Teddy Bear Story Part II: LOST

How had he ended up here?

One minute he was dancing with his Favorite Bear in FAO Schwarz and the next he was on this beach with fuzzy memories about a plane crash.

It seemed like so long ago in some parallel universe. Was she somewhere across that ocean or maybe farther? Did she think about him the way he thought about her or had she forgotten him already? And who is that annoying doctor who thinks he knows it all? One thought kept going through his head over and over: WE HAVE TO GO BACK!

But first a jar of honey before that fat guy eats it all.

(See Part I HERE.)

Cat Burglars

Boots always promised that every job would be the last one. All Sadie wanted was to settle down and have a litter of her own. She had already wasted four or five lives avoiding various catastrophes while they worked. The problem was that she could never say "No", and hated it when Boots taunted her and called her a scared y cat; had gotten used to the best fish in the koi pond, and enjoyed watching the family dog go berserk as they walked the fence staking out the next score. Deep inside she knew that she loved the thrill of it all.

Besides, she could never go back to her former life as a model.
How embarrassing .

And she needed to pay for her catnip addiction.
That was Boots' fault, too.

What’s In A Rose?

"I'm just waiting for the valet to bring my car around."
Here’s to all the Cool Cats, the Fat Cats, the Top Cats and the Alley Cats who know that wherever they may go a name by any other rose is still as sweet.

Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous

Are we done yet?

Being a celebrity wasn’t easy.

Early morning photo shoots that lasted so long it made your dogs bark.
The lengthy delays every time they had to change the set.
Sit and stay.
Sit and stay.
Being hounded by the paparazzi everywhere you went in hopes
they might catch you chasing a motorcycle or
getting it on with the poodle next door.

It didn’t help that they had the stage mother from hell.
She was a real b***h.

I Scream You Scream

She liked ice cream, and had a different favorite flavor every month. By the time she'd gotten to the bottom of the bowl, she had figured out this was not September and she wasn't eating Coffee Bean.

Ice Breaker

He was from Tennessee.
She was the belle of the ball from some high falutin' upper-crust society in the Northeast.
How they had ended up together, he hadn't a clue.
They were polar opposites, but he found her smile irresistible.
Waddling up beside her, he gazed into her eyes and said,
"Why did the penguin cross the sea?"
She looked at him with a distrusting squint, wondering what kind of pick up line
he was about to cast her way and replied,
"I don't  know. Why did the penguin cross the sea?"
"To get to the other tide."
She'd heard it before, but it made her giggle anyway.
