Diamonds of Sunlight

imgfave

The day began with so many possibilities
That glittered like a thousand diamonds
of sunlight upon the water.
She watched them disappear one by one
As the clock tick - tocked and the shadows grew long
Until the one remaining possibility had transformed into her last and only hope.

By the time the moon had traded places with the sun
Her heart was like a bag of marbles that had broken open
And rattled around the empty cavity of her chest
Until she finally fell asleep and
Dreamed of possibilities sprinkled like diamonds
of sunlight upon the water...

She woke up on the other side of morning
With the scent of salty ocean air hovering around her head and
The faint memory of sea tossed jewels.
A dream she couldn't quite remember
Yet never managed to forget.
