Flight of the Angel

The cherub crouched and sought to push
past the surly bonds of earth
to join the birds in free form flight
as day fell into Silent Night.

The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
said, "This is where I need you most.
Watch over all the souls who sleep
and comfort those who pass and weep."

"I gave you wings to blanket them
and shield them from the howling wind,
to keep them warm in falling snow
and shade them when the harsh sun glows."

And so the angel spreads its wings
o'er princes, paupers, pawns and kings
Where souls and angels are not bound
to heavenly skies or hallowed ground

Spirits walk this worldly place
in solemn vow and silent grace
Here underground is uppermost
to the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

This is a Theme Thursday post.
I took the photo in a cemetery on a recent trip.

I love cemetery photos. I've learned by looking at some photos on Flickr that many cemeteries these days (historic ones especially) require you to purchase a permit before they allow you to take pictures. I hope you didn't run across anything like that on your trip! Our cemeteries in AZ aren't nearly this dramatic.
