Home Improvement

The recent cool evenings and mornings prompted the Husband and I to tackle a project this weekend. You know, the kind where husband and wife work together to meet a common goal and in the process bond together? (If I had a photo of dripping sarcasm I would insert it here).

Now, there are two phrases in the English language that will make me run in the opposite direction just as fast as I can. They are “Easy Installation” and the sound of the Husband's voice saying “That won’t be a problem”.

Here on Monday morning, I am proud to say we set a record for both lowest amount of arguments disagreements and fewest return trips to L***’s after the project began, and we now have some nice sun shades on the patio.

And lest you think the weekend was all work and no play, here is a photo from Saturday evening taken by our friend, Captain Morgan.

I hope your weekend was productive and you have a successful week! Only 4 more days until Friday. :-)

Oh, I like it, it looks very nice! Yes, whenever my husband has a "weekend" project, hand hits forehead. Five years later, we're still wrapping up some of those weekend projects... why is it always easier to start a new project rather than finish the others? *sigh* I need a visit from your friend Captain Morgan.

Oh the home projects.....I love having them done but I don't love the all the energetic discussion it brings:)...especially when one person is doing the work and the other is playing with the cats or talking on the phone...or...well you get the point:) But hey it's done and it looks like it was a cool idea.:) Enjoy!

Hahaha! I've experienced such bonding experiences. :) I'm glad it all worked out in the end. :)

You are indeed a brave girl to enter into such an adventurous endeavor.

I know this only too well. I find home improvement does not lead to bonding (unless I have an accident with super glue or the no more nails, which is a common occurrence in our household!), but tend to lead to raised voices, many many expletives and a fair bit of sulking.

For some reason we forget this happens every time we take on board a DIY project, and we start each new project with renewed vigour before descending into the same old arguments!

But, hey, at least it was worth it for you - your shades look great Tracy!

Too funny!! Greg's favorite line is, "that should take about five minutes". Scarier words were never uttered! Glad you've got the shade, but where does Sluggo's feeder go now?
